Two Indonesian Contemporary Artists Show
Gusmen Heriadi & Tommy Wondra
Gallery Godo in Seoul, Nine Gallery in Gwangju and Sohun Gallery in Daegu present a traveling exhibition of work by contemporary Indonesian artists Gusmen Heriadi and Tommy Wondra, the likes of whom are rare to Korea, compared with European and American artists.
Heriadi depicts extreme life in nature and the city. A human body in his work appears, in contrast with natural scenery and a cityscape, and in association with an ant and tiny insect, to exude humor from the reversal of meaning in contemporary life. Wondra fills his canvases with Oriental lyricism, rhythmically conveying concise, rich narratives. He represents life experiences with remarkable talent.
The traveling exhibition galleries hope this exhibition will vitalize artistic exchanges between Korea and other Asian nations, moving Korea beyond its locality.
