Isolated Demonstration
Neung-yi Kang, Reporter
One weekend afternoon this month, I met a young artist who was hang about on the street in Sagan Dong, where major galleries stand close together, wearing a rabbit mask with a sign board. He introduced himself to me as a graduate student majoring in Making Oriental Painting.
His sign was written with two simple statements on the board: "I Want to Get an Exhibition. I Have Nothing but a Talent." He said that he desired an opportunity to express his talent with a show. I think his statements neither have anything to ask someone for something nor any abjection to others' opinions. It appears that he would not look for someone to sympathize with his opinion.
His action and assertion seem to be only an isolated expression to desire the opportunity. I think he, paradoxically, has achieved the opportunity with the courage to express even if he has isolated.
