The works selected for the exhibition Catch Me! are about the sheer thrill of acceleration but also take a critically detached look at speed, whether via anachronistic deceleration, analysis or forceful extraction of an essence, thereby showing a sometimes downright paradoxical image of a race with life itself.

The 20th century witnessed numerous theoretical and artistic works on the subject of speed as an experimental phenomenon, and as Guillaume Apollinaire predicted in 1903, it might be called "the Century of Speed." Thanks to the increasing demand for deceleration, the preoccupation with speed has resurfaced, and is critically scrutinised both as a metaphor for the development of life itself and for concentrated situations full of energy. At the same time, while harnessing the optimism of modernism, speed is enthusiastically celebrated.

The works selected for the exhibition Catch Me! are about the sheer thrill of acceleration but also take a critically detached look at speed, whether via anachronistic deceleration, analysis or forceful extraction of an essence, thereby showing a sometimes downright paradoxical image of a race with life itself.

brRRMMMWHEee – extended version
The trailer for this year's Diagonale film festival is thematically connected with the Catch Me! exhibition – brRRMMMWHEee was created by Vienna-based experimental film and music performance artist Billy Roisz. It translates a frenzy of electrical signals into images and sounds. The extended version will be shown three-dimensionally in Space03 at the Kunsthaus Graz while the festival is on, from 16th-21st March.

X-Event 2.4 according to the protocol Les courses
The finissage will be another final highlight of the show, this time with a performance by the Paris-based experimental dancers les gens d'Uterpan. The dancers will charge up and measure the exhibition space while stretching the limits of the expressive capabilities of their own bodies. The courses will be provoking the conditions for a new reflection on the works, the layout and the concept of the exhibition.
