Revolving around the idea of knowledge-sharing across disciplines, histories and geographies, the 2011 programme has been conceived by Mélanie Bouteloup and Anna Colin, who will join the team of Bétonsalon as associate director for the year. At the core of the development of the programme is the following interrogation: If a society of the commons is an emancipated society, then how to produce self-awareness and reflection on one's own history as two essential steps to de-alienation?

Revolving around the idea of knowledge-sharing across disciplines, histories and geographies, the 2011 programme has been conceived by Mélanie Bouteloup and Anna Colin, who will join the team of Bétonsalon as associate director for the year. Further reflecting on T.J. Demos's question: "What would it mean to treat the real as an effect to be produced, rather as a fact to be understood?"*, Bétonsalon presents different practices invested in the construction of memory, of realities and of potentialities, whether through the use of documents and speech, or through resorting to methodologies borrowed from diverse disciplines.

CE DONT ON SERA DANS L'AVENIR CAPABLE
Frédéric Moser & Philippe Schwinger
8/02 - 26/03
Opening Tuesday 8 February from 6pm to 9pm
Ce dont on sera dans l'avenir capable, the first solo exhibition in a Parisian institution by the Swiss artists duo, accompanies the development of the project France, detours, initiated by Moser & Schwinger in 2009. The two artists "interrogate France" through stages to reflect on the question of "living together". The exhibition presents episode 1 completed in Toulouse in 2009 and serves as a basis for the creation of a stage of formulation around the simultaneous shooting of episode 2 in Pierrefitte, co-produced by Kadist Art Foundation and L'âge d'or. A performance will be filmed before the exhibition and several choreographic meetings are planned with five dancers performing different possible scenarii for objects, people and situations encountered in Pierrefitte. Other meetings with actors involved in the making of France, détours will constitute a metaphorical tribune imagined by the artists for the exhibition.

ELDORADIO
5/04 - 21/05
As part of the 30th anniversary of the liberation of the airwaves in France, several researchers and artists have been invited to explore the 'Eldoradio' archives assembled by radio aficionados. The exhibition presents the results of their research and aims to confront different documents (forms of representation / views / narratives), composed yesterday or today. A symposium organised by a working group composed of radio professionals and academics, as well as listening sessions and workshops will accompany the exhibition.

With Isabelle Cadière, Encyclopédie de la parole, Elisabete Fernandes, Louise Hervé and Chloé Maillet, Thierry Lefebvre and his students, Franck Leibovici, the students of Frédérique Berthet and Arnaud Maïsetti, and Eldoradio.fr's members.

THE OTOLITH GROUP
14/06 - 23/07
The Otolith Group's first exhibition in a French institution will present their curatorial work around L'Héritage de la Chouette ('The Owl's Legacy'), the television series directed by French film director Chris Marker and commissioned by ARTE in 1987. The exhibition will be complemented by screenings of the Otolith Group's own work and by a set of events with the Group. These include a session of the Communism's Afterlives seminar curated by Nataša Petrešin-Bachelez and Elena Sorokina, and the launch of issue 105 of the journal Third Text, entitled The Militant Image: a Cine-geography and guest edited by Kodwo Eshun and Ros Gray. The latter event will take place at musée du quai Branly.

JIKKEN KōBō
Curator: Mélanie Mermod
6/09 - 29/10
The Jikken Kōbō (Experimental Workshop) is a collective of artists based in Tokyo which included visual artists, composers, photographers, designers, a poet and music critic, a lighting designer, a writer, a pianist and an engineer. Active from 1951 to 1958 in Tokyo, the Jikken Kōbō generated atypical forms of performing arts, as ballets, recitals and environmental art. Eclipsed by the global recognition of the Gutai Bijutsu Kyōkai (Concrete Art Association), the Jikken Kōbō proposed a transdisciplinary vision, focusing on the issue of collaborative work, experimentation with new exhibition formats and a "sensory" experience of art. Artist Ei Arakawa will present a new collaborative performance in tribute to this collective. His project is realised in partnership with CAC Brétigny. A series of events will accompany the exhibition.
