FALL PROGRAMS FOR KIDS, TWEENS & TEENS AT THE GUGGENHEIM—REGISTER TODAY

Looking for a creative activity for your child after school? Enroll your kid, tween, or teen now in our exciting and diverse selection of after-school programs inspired by the museum's building, permanent collection, and fall exhibitions, including Chaos and Classicism opening on October 1.



FOR KIDS AGES 8–11: ART AFTER SCHOOL

8 Tuesdays starting Oct 5, 4–6:15 pm

Does your child love to explore museums and create their own works of art? Then this program is for them! Art After School invites your child to experience the museum’s spectacular Frank Lloyd Wright-designed architecture and permanent collection, as well as our new exhibition Chaos and Classicism. Your child will learn about a wide range of art making techniques, including tempera painting, charcoal drawing, sculpture, print-making, collage, and photography. The program concludes with a mini-exhibition for family and friends.



Fee: $300 ($250 members). Includes all art materials, snacks, a family pass, and CD with photos documenting the program. To register, call 212 423 3637. Deadline: Friday, October 1.



FOR TWEENS GRADES 6–8: YOUR FIRST ARTIST PORTOLIO

8 Mondays beginning Oct 4, 4–6:15 pm

Led by Guggenheim teaching artists, this intensive program provides tweens who are preparing to apply to specialized arts high schools with a creative and supportive artistic environment for portfolio preparation. In Your First Artist Portfolio, students will hone their skills, work with a wide range of media, and develop a portfolio of artwork. The majority of time will be spent working in the museum’s art studio, with occasional visits to the Guggenheim’s galleries and neighboring museums for additional inspiration.

FOR TEENS GRADES 10–12: RESPONDING TO ART THROUGH CREATIVE WRITING

6 Wednesdays beginning Oct 27, 4–6 pm and Sat, Dec 4, 1–4 pm

This course for teens invites students to respond to works featured in the special exhibition Chaos and Classicism and the museum’s permanent collection through in-depth group conversations, sketching, and creative writing, facilitated by a professional writer and museum educator. The students will develop a portfolio of drawings and creative writing over the course of the seven sessions. Students will pick one or two of their writing entries to revise and “publish” in a chapbook with a reproduction of the artwork that inspired them.
