Alighiero Boetti:
A Private Collection
13th October - 12th December 2015
Luxembourg & Dayan is delighted to announce Alighiero Boetti: A Private Collection, an
exhibition presenting the complete works from an entire single-owner collection dedicated
exclusively to Boetti. Featuring over sixty works that date between 1965 and 1989, the
exhibition is a mini retrospective of one of the most influential Italian artists of the twentieth
century.
On show will be rare and important works that celebrate the diversity of Boetti¡¯s oeuvre including: Mimetico (Camouflage), Lampada Annuale (Annual Light), both 1967; Dama (Chequerboard), 1969; Autoritratto (alfabeto muto) (Self Portrait: Dumb Alphabet), 1971; Lavoro Postale (Postal Work), 1973; Mappa (Per Nuova Desideri) (Map: For New Desires), 1983-84; and Tutto (Everything), 1987; and many more.
Viewing the works as an ensemble will present an opportunity to enter the mind-set of this unique collector, who for the past twenty years has rigorously honed this collection in order to fully encompass each nuance of the artist¡¯s distinct philosophy.
This unique collection is the focus of a new essay by the art historian Jean-Christophe
Ammann (author of the Boetti Catalogue Raisonné) which will be published in the
accompanying exhibition catalogue.
