The American Federation of Arts seeks a Curator of Exhibitions to manage, initiate, develop, and coordinate traveling exhibitions and their catalogues with guest curators and scholars.
This key position functions primarily as project manager; responsibilities include supervising all aspects of organizational activity relating to exhibitions including working closely with guest curators to shape exhibitions and realize all loans, marketing of exhibitions in the field to realize successful exhibition tours, working closely with organizing and participating institutions and with Publications, Education, External Affairs, and Administrative departments of the AFA in their work on each exhibition. There will also be the opportunity to serve as curator for one¡¯s own exhibitions.
M.A. or Ph. D. in art history preferred. Knowledge and experience in pre-modern field desired. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and at least three years in a museum or art environment with experience in organizing exhibitions required.
